400 Years: African American Past and Presence

The Center for the Study of Race and Democracy at Arizona State University welcomes L’Merchie Frazier to Phoenix and to the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center for a moving program to mark the close of the historic 400 years anniversary of the arrival of Africans in America. The program features a stirring exhibition of works by internationally acclaimed artist L’Merchie Frazier, rituals of remembrance led by ASU faculty member and AME elder Sakena Young-Scaggs, PhD and a panel discussion that includes ASU faculty Lois Brown, PhD and Calvin Schermerhorn, PhD and Princess Crump, Board President, George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center.
